4x4 Closure
A 4x4 closure has a 4 by 4 inch lace area on top of the head. It allows a middle or slight side part and has less lace to place than a lace front.
Glueless
It is glueless as standard: it stays on with the adjustable band, no adhesive needed.
What is a 4x4 closure wig?
A 4x4 closure is a square of lace, 4 by 4 inches (10 by 10 cm), set at the front center of the cap where you part your hair. Inside that square the hair is knotted by hand, so the part looks like scalp. The rest of the cap, including the hairline over the temples, is made of sewn wefts.
That is the real difference from a lace front: the natural-looking hairline is only four inches wide, in the middle of the forehead, and the sides are covered by hair falling forward. This is why a closure is worn down around the face, and why our 4x4 closure wigs are glueless as standard: there is no long lace edge to hold down, so the band and the cap fit do the work.
How to install a 4x4 lace closure wig without glue
Because the wig is glueless, installing it is about fit and placement rather than adhesive.
- Put the wig on from front to back and set the front edge of the lace just ahead of your natural hairline, centered with your nose.
- Tighten the adjustable anti-slip band until the wig feels secure when you shake your head; the drawstring add-on tightens the fit further if you need it.
- Trim only the lace at the front of the square, following your hairline with small snips; the sides are cap, not lace, so there is nothing to cut there.
- If your scalp is darker than the lace, dab a little concealer or foundation on the underside of the lace at the part.
- Comb the hair slightly forward over the temples to hide the cap edge, then set the part.
4x4 closure wig styles: what works and what to avoid
Keep the part inside the lace square and let the hair frame the face, and a 4x4 looks natural up close.
- Works: a middle part, the most natural option, or a slight side part about an inch (2.5 cm) off center, still inside the square.
- Works: face-framing layers or curtain bangs, both cut on request, and loose curls or waves falling forward over the temples.
- Works: a low half-up style or a low ponytail with a few pieces left out in front of the ears.
- Avoid: slicked-back edges, high ponytails and deep side parts that start at the temple; they expose the cap edge where there is no lace. For those styles choose a 13x4 or 13x6 lace front.
Who is a 4x4 closure wig for?
A 4x4 suits anyone who wants a natural part without gluing lace: first-time wig wearers, busy mornings, and people who travel or take the wig off every night. No adhesive touches your hairline, so it is also a good choice if glue irritates your skin or you want to rest your own edges.
It is the right fit if you wear a middle or slight side part with the hair down. If you want to sweep the hair back or show the hairline at the temples, choose a 13x4 or 13x6 lace front; if you want the same glueless ease with a little more parting room, look at the 5x5 closure.
Questions about these wigs
What does a 4x4 closure wig look like?
From the front it looks like hair falling naturally from a middle or slight side part. The 4 inch lace square shows scalp along the part, and the rest of the hair falls over the temples, where the cap has no lace. It looks most natural worn down; pulled back, the sides show the cap edge. HD lace or bleached knots, a paid add-on, make the part look even more like scalp.
What is a closure wig?
A closure wig has a small square of lace, 4x4 or 5x5 inches, at the front center where the hair parts, instead of lace along the whole hairline. The part looks like scalp, the rest of the cap is wefts, and the hair is worn down around the face. Our closure wigs are glueless as standard: the adjustable band holds them.
What does a 4x4 closure wig mean?
It means the lace closure measures 4 by 4 inches (10 by 10 cm). That square is the only area where the part looks like scalp, so you can wear a middle part or a slight side part inside it. The number says nothing about the cap size, which is one size with an adjustable band on every wig.
What's the difference between a 13x4 and a 4x4 wig?
A 13x4 has lace along the whole hairline, ear to ear, so you can part it anywhere across the front and wear it swept back. A 4x4 has lace only in a square at the center, so the part stays there and the hair is worn forward. The 4x4 is glueless as standard and quicker to put on. Both reach 4 inches back from the hairline.
How do you install a 4x4 lace closure wig?
No glue needed: put on a wig cap, set the wig from front to back with the lace just ahead of your hairline, and tighten the adjustable band. Trim the lace at the front of the square only, comb the hair forward over the temples, then set your part. It takes a few minutes and comes off just as quickly.
How do you style a 4x4 closure wig?
Keep the part inside the lace square, middle or slightly to one side, and let the hair fall forward around the face. Loose curls, soft waves and curtain bangs, cut on request, frame the temples where the cap edge sits. A flat iron bend on the front pieces toward the face does the same on straight hair.
What is a 4x4 HD lace wig?
It is a 4x4 closure wig made with HD lace, a thinner lace that blends into the skin at close range. On a closure the lace is only at the part, so HD makes the biggest difference if you wear a middle part that people see up close. Set the part with fingertips, since thin lace tears more easily.
Can you put a closure wig in a ponytail?
Yes, a low one: gather the hair at the nape and leave a few pieces out in front of the ears to hide the cap edge at the temples, where a closure wig has no lace. A high ponytail or a slicked-back front would show that edge; for those styles a 13x4 or 13x6 lace front is the better choice.
Can a 4x4 Closure wig be glueless?
It is glueless as standard: it stays on with the adjustable band, no adhesive needed.
Why choose a 4x4 Closure?
It allows a middle or slight side part and has less lace to place than a lace front.
