5x5 Closure

A 5x5 closure has a 5 by 5 inch lace area, larger than 4x4. It gives a little more parting space while keeping the fit simple.

Glueless

It is glueless as standard, a quick wig to put on and take off.

5x5 vs 4x4 closure: what the extra inch gives you

A 5x5 closure is a square of hand-tied lace, 5 by 5 inches (13 by 13 cm), at the front center of the cap. That is one inch more each way than a 4x4, and in area it is more than half again as much lace: 25 square inches instead of 16.

In practice the extra inch shows up in three places. The part can sit further to the side and still land on lace, the parting line runs a little further back before it meets the wefts, and the lace edge along the forehead is wider, so more of the front hairline looks natural.

Everything else stays the same as on a 4x4: our 5x5 closure wigs are glueless as standard, go on with the adjustable band, and are worn with the hair down around the face. Pick the 5x5 when a 4x4 feels too limited for your part.

How to part and style a 5x5 closure wig

The 5x5 keeps the easy, glueless fit of a closure and adds room to move the part.

  • Side part: set it about an inch and a half (4 cm) off center, above the arch of the eyebrow; on a 4x4 the same part would sit near the edge of the lace.
  • Middle part: the five inches of lace show a longer stretch of scalp, which suits sleek straight hair and blunt ends.
  • Half up, half down: when you lift the top section, more of the visible roots sit on lace than on a 4x4.
  • Curls and waves: fluff the roots around the part with fingers so the lace edge disappears into the texture.
  • Still avoid slicked-back edges and very deep side parts starting at the temple; the sides of a closure wig are cap, not lace.

Caring for a 5x5 HD lace closure

On a closure all the lace sits at the part, the spot you touch most, so the way you handle that square decides how long the part stays full and clean. This matters most with HD lace, which is thinner and blends better but tears more easily than transparent lace.

  • Move the part with the tip of a rat-tail comb, not your nails, and do it on dry hair.
  • Makeup under the part (concealer, powder or tinted spray) comes off with micellar water on a cotton pad before each wash; scrubbing it out in the sink wears the lace.
  • Put oils and heavy leave-ins on the mid-lengths and ends only; on the closure they can loosen knots and flatten the part.
  • Keep the flat iron and curling iron away from the lace itself: style from just below the roots.
  • Let the wig dry on a stand so the closure keeps its shape, and store it covered.

Questions about these wigs

What is a 5x5 closure wig?

It is a wig with a 5 by 5 inch (13 by 13 cm) lace closure at the front center, where the hair parts; the rest of the cap is wefts. It gives a natural-looking part and front, is glueless as standard on our wigs, and has a little more parting room than a 4x4. It is worn with the hair down around the face.

What's the difference between a 4x4 and a 5x5 closure wig?

One inch each way: the 5x5 lace square is 5 inches across and 5 deep, the 4x4 is 4 by 4. With a 5x5 your side part can sit further from the center and the parting line runs a little further back on lace. Both are glueless as standard and install the same way, with the adjustable band.

What's the difference between a 5x5 and a 13x4 wig?

Where the lace is. A 5x5 is a closure: a 5 inch square at the center, glueless as standard, worn with the hair forward. A 13x4 is a lace front: lace along the whole hairline, ear to ear, 4 inches deep, so you can part anywhere across the front and wear the hair back, but it needs adhesive, tape or the glueless add-on.

What is a 5x5 HD lace wig?

It is a 5x5 closure wig made with HD lace, a thinner lace that blends into most skin tones at close range. Because a 5x5 shows a larger square of lace at the part than a 4x4, the difference between HD and transparent lace shows more there. It needs gentle handling: part it with a comb tail and lift concealer off with care.

Do you make a 5x5 lace closure bob wig?

No. Our bob wigs, 10 to 16 inches, are made only with 13x4 or 13x6 lace fronts, so the hairline is natural from ear to ear on a short cut, where the sides show. If you want a short, glueless look, order a bob with the glueless add-on where the style offers it, or ask us about a closure wig cut short, quoted before you pay.

How do you make a closure wig look natural?

Match the lace to your scalp and hide the edges. Dab concealer or tinted powder under the part if your scalp is darker than the lace, keep the part inside the closure, and let the hair fall forward over the temples where the cap edge sits. Bleached knots, a paid add-on, make the part look even more like scalp.

Can you do a side part with a 5x5 closure wig?

Yes. Set it about an inch and a half off center, above the arch of the eyebrow, and it stays on lace from the hairline back to the end of the square. That is the main reason to choose a 5x5 over a 4x4. For a deep side part starting at the temple, you need a 13x6 lace front instead.

Can a 5x5 Closure wig be glueless?

It is glueless as standard, a quick wig to put on and take off.

Why choose a 5x5 Closure?

It gives a little more parting space while keeping the fit simple.
